The Level 4 IQA Award is designed for individuals who are responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of assessment within a training organisation or assessment centre.
This qualification provides the knowledge and practical skills required to internally quality assure assessment decisions, support assessors, and ensure that assessment practice is consistent, fair, and meets awarding organisation requirements.
It is a key qualification for those who want to progress into roles such as:
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA)
Lead Assessor
Quality Lead within a training academy
Centre Quality Manager

What You Will Learn
During this course you will develop an understanding of the principles, responsibilities, and practices involved in internal quality assurance, including how to monitor assessment decisions and support assessors effectively.

Units Covered
This qualification consists of two units:
Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment
This unit focuses on the theory and knowledge required for internal quality assurance, including roles, responsibilities, standardisation, and maintaining quality systems.
Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
This unit focuses on the practical application of IQA skills. You will learn how to plan, carry out, and record internal quality assurance activities within a real assessment environment.
Practical Requirements
To complete this qualification, learners must have access to an environment where assessment takes place.
You will be required to:
Observe and internally quality assure at least two assessors
Review assessment decisions and provide feedback
Complete records demonstrating the internal quality assurance process
This ensures learners gain real, practical experience of internal quality assurance.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal academic entry requirements for this qualification. However, learners must:
Be aged 16 or over
Be working in, or have access to, an environment where assessments take place
Have access to at least two assessors whose work can be internally quality assured
Support with Practical Requirements
If you do not currently have access to assessors to observe as part of the practical assessment requirements, support may be available to help arrange this experience.
